APPEARANCE Short? Yes. Tiny? Also yes. Easy to overlook? Absolutely (though you'd regret doing so). Frail? Absolutely not. WR is surprisingly well built for their almost pathetic frame, possessing many attributes of a dedicated athlete, as well as a fair mix of feminine & masculine traits, making it difficult to tell what exactly is hidden beneath their generally baggy clothes. Their hair is often messy & seems to almost absorb sunlight, in contrast to their silky skin which seems to reflect it. They have several tattoos as well as scars on their arms & backside, & are an avid collector of accessories which usually compliment their alt/punk wardrobe, which, surprise surprise, consists of feminine & masculine pieces alike; they like to mix & match. One could easily assume that they are simply a small, helpless child Needless to say, they are incredibly, almost subconsciously, easy to underestimate, and one can only wonder if this deception is intentional.PERSONALITY Snarky and hotheaded, this fiery short stack has a reputation for instigating chaos, regardless of intent. They tend to come off as aggressive & impertinent due to their sharp tongue & outwardly apathetic nature, often provoking even those they intend to help. They have a deep-rooted hatred for law enforcement & politicians (& other such concepts), seeing them as nothing more than oppressive, lying, thieving, hypocritical, privileged neckbeards. Thus, they believe the necessary change in the world must be made by those without said privilege, those who rightfully suffered to make their way, & those eager to get their hands in the dirt to expose the "authority" for what they truly are. Despite this and their fearsome affiliations, they are (ironically) an incredibly intimate individual, considering themself an advocate for freedom, self-expression & individualism through art & other creative means. This creates an interesting dichotomy considering their affiliation - their jurisdiction - within the Yankan, which might leave one to question their true, genuine intentions Even more ironically, as explosive as their emotions can be (especially the negative ones), their moral compass is generally skewed to rationality above all else - at least, that's what they'd like to think...
BACKGROUND Their foster father, Ignacy Koppa, was a daringly cunning man. A Polish immigrant, he moved to Keibetsu in hopes of better, more plentiful opportunities. He was a sewer worker & carpenter, specializing in building deceitful hiding places & intricate passageways. He was also a master of forgery, which proved to be a very useful skill with the subtly creeping crimes rates that would soon plague the city. He quickly got involved with petty gangs, crafting whatever was requested of him for a rather generous price while keeping his true identity (& intentions) unknown. Needless to say, he certainly found his fix amongst the street rats of Keibetsu, growing quite a reputation for himself in the Underground as a man who could build - & hide - anything. Their foster mother, Akane Yun, was a healthcare data analyst for the city's biggest hospital as well as a journalist who specialized in undercover operations; from exposing corrupt politicians who threatened the city's esteemed safety to blackmailing your neighbor into copious amounts of money after a bitter end to their relationship; it didn't matter the job or the client, so long as she was well compensated, & well compensated she was. She took down many big names left & right, making a feared name for herself all over the city; nobody knew who she was or what she wanted, but her message was clear: if you were marked, it was over. They called her "The Omniscient" due to her substantial knowledge of the citizens of Keibetsu, & likewise to Ignacy, was a big name in the Underground. The two met when they were contracted for the same job: to expose & kill Keibetsu's (at the time) Mayor. The plan was flawless & the execution was perfect, & as the target's head hit the ground & the city was aroused in shock... It was love at first...second? Second sight. And thus, in 1996, the Yankan was born. What started as a simple ambition would subtly become a dominant force within Keibetsu. Their goal was simple: to disarm the government, to topple it to the ground, to built it anew. It was a project conjured by a jointed, flawed perspective that would continue to attract new devotees for years to come. Ironically, the Koppa's hands-off approach became much more hands-on as the family project became a city wide gang, & that simple ambition to destroy the government from the inside out became a lust for control. In 1999, the couple decided they wanted a successor to keep the Yankan's leadership in the family should something happen to them. In 2000, their daughter was born, & they somehow managed to maintain this secret while holding reigns over the Yankan. Sylvye near immediately had an affinity for computers & naturally took after her mother's work, focusing more on the hacking aspects of it than the exposing. The child prodigy quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with, which was everything the Koppa's wanted. Unfortunately, as she grew older & thusly became more consciously aware of her parents' occupations & their goals, she disagreed with their philosophies & in turn grew to resent them, though this knowledge was kept secret in hopes she would one day be able to put an end to the Yankan. She continued to work with them while simultaneously sabotaging their operations. As the Yankan continued to grow & therefore their ambitions, the couple decided they wanted another child, but this time they opted to adopt one, hoping that they could twist the unfortunate circumstances of their life to their favor. And thus, in 2005, the problem child WR was introduced to their new family. They quickly grew attached to Sylvye as she was the only person close to their age who had ever shown them consistent kindness despite their rough personality. As their parents were usually off doing something or another, Sylvye was usually left to entertain them, which gave them plenty of time to bond & entertain the illusion of a functional family dynamic. Even as a child, WR was an extremely fiery individual, yet Sylvye seemed to ground them & simultaneously act as their security blanket. Like everything else, this task was effortless for her. Unfortunately, mischief would soon divide the two as WR became to take after their father's work; they were fascinated by his craftmanship & navigation expertise, especially in the sewers. Unlike their sister, WR believed in their parents' cause & thus took pride in helping the Yankan in any way they could, especially as they grew older. In their teenage years, they found themself skulking all over the city, remembering every twist & turn both on & below the streets. They acted independently from time to time, exuding their angst on whatever rubbed them the wrong way in the moment. This got them into trouble, of course, with both the authorities & their parents. Their reckless behavior was a threat to the Yankan (which Sylvye somewhat encouraged) & therefore a threat to their family, which normally led to a beating or some other form of abuse - sometimes even by random Yankan devotees - as their parents lacked the patience & time necessary to constructively address their problematic tendencies. Somehow, this managed to discipline them...somewhat. Still, they believed in their parents' cause, & still they helped in whatever ways they could, becoming more closely involved with Yankan operations as more of an outlet for their anger than anything else, which influenced them more & more to work closely with the gang & develop their own ambitions.. Many years passed... WR worked directly under their parents & Sylvye had almost completely dissociated herself from her family. The Yankan were growing strong & almost entirely upset the balance of the Underground world, being one of the main powerhouses of crime & illegal authority. In 2014, everything would change forever. Sylvye had (intentionally) completely jeopardized an operation against, ironically, the city's new Mayor, which promptly resulted in the arrest of Akane, the death of Ignacy, & the breaking point of WR, (who was also presumed dead). She subsequently joined the The Task Force as a hacker & data handler & never knew the truth of her sibling's fate, assuming that she had successfully ended the Yankan as she had vowed to do many years ago. In 2016, though, the Yankan would once again shake the city with an overwhelming presence which could only be defined as shadowing chaos. At only 19 years old, WR had seized total control over the Yankan & its operations, free to pursue whatever great ambitions had been brewing in the dark since their parents' reign. Now, in 2022, the Yankan are thriving amidst the chaos, having established itself as one of the most prominent forces in the city, enough to prompt the city's officials - & other such groups - to combat its control. Few know of WR's identity, let alone occupation, & none know their true intentions. By day they're a struggling mechanic & street artist, by night they're a prominent figurehead of one of Keibetsu's most feared organizations. One can only wonder what they plan to do next. |
