[ [ PLOT AND SETTING ] ] ▼ p l o t There was once a time when the people of Keibetsu felt safe, secure. They were unaware of the growing colony of drugs and violence outside of their homes. In the early 2000’s rumors of gangs were sweeping the streets, yet no one could believe. "Not our city, we’re one of the safest in the world." The commoners would say. But then, it finally happened. In 2016, the rumored gang was named on the news, the Yankan, they were called. And they were being linked to a tremendous increase in crime relating to violence and drugs. However, not only a few months after they became public another underground gang left their mark, calling themselves the Inago. They seemed less violent and potentially smaller, but just as manipulative and chaotic. They were rumored to have formed to combat the Yankan. And just like that the criminals within the rival gangs began leaving their dirty fingerprints on many aspects of life within the city, from lowly violent crimes and increasing drug market rackets to the halls of high-level political and financial power. The two gangs centered in the city, fighting over who would get it all, the money, fame, respect and people to fear them, all while trying to keep their leaders hidden. But in 2020, the government said "Enough of this chaos! They’re ruining our city!” the crime rates had nearly tripled and the government began pushing for more police officers, detectives, even task forces in the city. For the first few weeks, the Governments plan had seemed to work, increasing the number of officials seemed to help decrease the number of crimes. But of course, the gangs both grew in numbers. They started fighting, not only between themselves but with the government as well. It became a power struggle for control over the entire city itself. Politicians began buying into the gangs power plays and things began to go downhill, fast. The year is now 2022 and Keibetsu is named one of the most dangerous cities in the world. The Japanese government has recently given the officials orders to handle the two gangs by any means necessary, forming their own private squad to deal with them, including lethal force. The crime rates are at an all-time high, drugs litter the streets, and every day on the news there's a new murder or politician being exposed. The gangs are growing stronger and the officials are becoming more and more ruthless…and the commoners fear that this is only the beginning of the decline. s e t t i n g The Decline is set in modern day in a small island city known as Keibetsu with a population of roughly 12,000 people. The climate is mostly temperate with four distinct seasons. The geography of Keibetsu, is mostly long and flat compared to the rest of Japan, making it more susceptible to hurricanes and typhoons. However, a few tall mountains tower along the northern coast with a beautiful forrest seperating the main city from them. [WELCOME TO THE DECLINE] |
