APPEARANCE He is depicted as a tall, lean and slightly muscular figure, though he is not overly bulky but isn't that a stick either. His skin is a fare tone, and his features are thin and angular. One defining features of him as a whole are his eyes reflecting a distinct slate-blue color. His dark hair is relatively distinctive, at the right angle it'd seem as if it were short and spiky however his hair is long and is typically half tied up at the back, nevertheless it is often tangled and in a mess on his head. He can be seen habitually reaching up and either flicking it away from his eyes or brushing it back with his fingers. Glints of silver bite into the shell of one ear, the piercings being noticeable when his hair is tied back, and though he rarely wears in, he also has a lip piercing. PERSONALITY Ryota is a very conservative person (no, not politically-politics mean nothing to him). He prefers not to change, for he cares little for doing so. He hardly ever goes out on a limb to try new things, yet he is not the type to chose the safety of the known over the unknown—he just feels that change for him would be impossible, as if it was too late for him to change. He is, however, cautious of his decision-making, and likes to think things over before he speaks or acts. He likes to pace himself when deciding things, think everything in great detail, so he can have the upper hand. He is a deep thinker and as such he is one who doesn't stop asking why at the first level of answer, he tends to go further and further into the logic chain of his reasoning, because greater truth and reality lie in the roots and not in the obvious stems and leaves. He is a practical being, level-headed, efficient and non-speculative. He is what most would consider wise; he uses his knowledge from his own history to support his opinions and beliefs, and lets nothing affect him otherwise. With this said it is also obvious he can be a very placid person, others harsh opinions of him hardly affect him in any way. Ryota has no faith in religions because of this and prefers to see everything statistically. His words are based from facts and experience and with such knowledge he gains efficiency. Despite his often playful smile he is very apathetic and subconsciously cold, he is not opposed to disposing of others to get his way. In fact he considers most people to be nothing but “toys” or “tools”. He typically sees people as unworthy to care about. His gains this idea from past experiences and does not hesitate to let others know it. Ryota also doesn't hesitate when stating how humans allow themselves to live fragile lives and how foolish it is, he has a belief that all beings without experience of pain are weak, and those with the experience yet let their present life be affected by it are weak. Those whom are not weak are those who use pains and other experiences from their history to gain knowledge and strength, and those are the people whom he'd respect and dedicate himself to. Ryota is also a realist, he has a firm grip on reality and can see things for what they are, not what he is told they are. He does not fall victim easily to propaganda, misconception, or titles. He doesn't buy into hopes or dreams, and has no shame in telling someone they can't do something, especially if that something is just unrealistic. He falls into that small number of people whom when asked if the glass of water is half empty or half full the answer would be “who gives a fuck it's a glass of water.” Also, he hints strongly at being a fatalist, believing that everything that will happen had already been decided, therefore his belief that people don't change comes into play. His fatalistic views are more affiliated to the bad than the good though, such as if he is expecting things for a certain day to turn out badly, he sees no point in trying to change that outcome.
BACKGROUND Ryota’s life had always been surrounded by the less fine things in life; being born to a poor family who dedicated their lives to stealing and cheating to get by. His parents met in Keibetsu, his mother had strong ties with the Yankan, supposedly initiating his father into the gang after they became a couple. Shortly after they got together, his mother became pregnant. Giving birth to Ryota in the summer of 1997 and marrying his father soon after. Growing up, Ryota was no stranger to violence, drugs, stealing, and all the other miserable gang activities his parents exposed him to. Growing up, he was forced to accept this way of life. If anyone asked, his parents were small-time investors, making just enough to put a roof over his head and food in his stomach. But something happened that changed his life, and solidified his alliance with the Yankan. At age fourteen he wondered out at night, he was tired of having to stay indoors and study. A group of Inago gang members had kidnapped him, taken him as a hostage of sorts. Of course he was smart enough to know not to fight back and not to share any secrets his family held. It was a typical kind of kidnapping however, mouth duct taped, draped in a burlap sack, tied and tossed into the trunk of a car. Of course he never really feared being taken away, yet he was scared at that moment, he was concerned of not only his own well-being but his family's and their gangs. He knew how quickly an empire could fall, how easily everything could be lost with a single break of human love. Thankfully, his kidnappers were hardly cruel to him; they tossed him in a room with a bed, a few books, and another tiny room which was the bathroom. He was given two meals a day and clothes, but stayed concealed, it seemed that they and him both knew he'd not try anything. It was sort of a neutral thing, besides, what could he have done? After about two weeks, Ryota began to grow uneasy, and a bit skeptical, he wondered if his parents were even trying or if he was going to be stuck there for the rest of his life, he requested to go home, which they responded by giving him more books and telling him to shut his mouth. On the third week Ryota became sure that either the kidnappers were yet to ask for the money or his parents didn't care. He slowly devised a plan, he asked for pens and pencils so he could practice his writing, and not questioning him they got him such items. Not too much later he faked being hurt, causing one of the men to actually enter the room and leave the door open, having a hidden pencil on his person he stabbed the man in the eye and ran out, escaping entirely from the house itself. The young teen was the met with a triadic situation, he was in the bustling heart of Keibetsu, in an area which he had not remembered. However he never stopped to worry, for the kidnappers were hot on his trail. He had lost them after entering a small corner market. It was then someone recognized him, the person was a young woman, a wife to a member of the Yankan. She was quick to inform his parents, who had turned out to have been looking for him the entire time. From that day on they had decided to involve him with the gangs affairs. When Ryota turned seventeen he was allowed to go with a group of the Yankans most trusted soldierd to deal with some “dirty work” it was then he had seen, for the first time, someone killed. The thrill of it was most exciting, and Ryota learned that deaths like such were common. Pretty soon he was regularly accompanying the mobsters, to drug deals, extortion trips, burglaries, and many things of that nature. However, when Ryota turned nineteen, soon after the two gangs became notorious, his father was arrested and imprisoned. His mother had grown paranoid, worrying that it was only a matter of time before names were dropped and that they were both going to go down too. After a year she tried to leave the Yankan by leaving the country all together, though Ryota refused to go with her. He felt like the Yankan was his family now, and they couldn’t just leave his father alone in the city. So, she left without him. Ryota, now alone, began making money by dealing drugs on the streets, as one of the best dealers in the Yankan. And after five years, he’s known nothing else. The Yankan is his home, his family. |
