"Drugs, weapons, gangs, violence, corrupt politicians....it's the stuff that fuels a peaceful societies nightmares. We want our children, our families, our friends and our neighbors to be safe. But, the Yankan and Inago have been coming in hot, feuding over who will win, who will gain control of our once thriving city at the expense of innocent lives. The government officials are doing everything they can to stop them, but they can't all be trusted either, can they? Life has been turned upside by the greedy and malicious hands of the gangs, officers and politicians and our once safe city, is no longer that. It is time for us to start picking sides, or hiding, because this is only the beginning the decline..."

After four years of working on this plot and story- we are finally open. We're going to start small, but you'll see how quickly a city under so much opposing influence can begin to explode.

» It was nearing the end of summer in 2020, it had only been a few years since Eli uprooted his life and began his own independent journalist blog, and his search for an incredible story in the city of Keibetsu. He had heard of the cities theoretical collapse at the hands of two rival gangs, and the government had so-far minimal contact with doing anything about it though they want people to feel safe. But was that how they actually felt? He felt determined to figure out what was going on, why it was happening and who was doing it.
Which was why twenty-year old Eli found himself canvassing the streets, his notebook in hand. His sources had lead him to the cities projects, rumored to be heavily influenced by the Yankan. It was a beautiful day out and Eli found the best way to get someones opinion on something, was to ask them outright. It also made him feel more connected to a community that was new to him, and while he risked being called out or targeted for asking questions, he like like it was his destiny to uncover the truth: whatever it may be.
As he approached random people on the streets he asked questions like ”How has the influence of the Yankan and Inago effected you over the past few years?” or ”Do you have any concerns surrounding the governments involvement in the ongowing battle between the gangs?” His questions while simple, harvested a lot of deep emotions from the public. Perfect for what was going to be his first human interest article since having moved.
With his notes in hand he found his next interview opportunity, approaching the younger female, presumably a teen perhaps? The youth are more at risk because of this... he thought to himself. Walking up to the smaller human he cleared his throat and asked with sheer determination, ”Hey miss, do you have a moment? I'd like to get your opinion on some things.”

Reiko had been wandering around Keibetsu, never interested in staying in one place for very long. She was wearing a tan top with short shorts. She happened to be near The Keibetsu Projects when she happened to hear Eli asking questions about the gangs. So foolish. Doesn't he realize he is going to annoy us? She thought to herself, being pulled from her thoughts when Eli had asked her his question. "Yeah sure. Why not?" She answered with a shrug. She glanced around them, curious on the reactions of anybody who happened to be standing nearby them. I'll base my answers on his questions but refrain from saying too much on the subject but unlike those cowards I don't fear the yankan gang but he should. She thought to herself a smile appearing on her lips at the thought as she waited for him to start his questions.
» Eli came to the city to find answers, and his line of work was not only meaningful to him but personal as well. His parents took the title as hard-hitting journalists, they had their own business that fell due to the loss of his father but that did nothing but push Eli to try harder, to dig deeper. He knew the kind of territory he was in, even though he hadn’t been there long. He knew it was a risk. But it was a risk worth taking.
He was excited to get the ball rolling when the young girl actually responded, ”Great, well I’m Eli, I’m working on an insider piece if you will, and was trying to get opinions from the public, what’s your name?” He started, his eagerness shined through, one could tell he was determined to get these conversations.
Eli flipped to a fresh page in his note book, writing the date at the top of the paper. It was clear he was ready to take notes.

Reiko listened as Eli spoke. I sorta figured as much. But go on, tell me all of your secrets. She thought to herself as she remained silent. He wants me to give him my name? I could always give him the run around about how I was raised to not talk to strangers but frankly I don't care about what she thinks. It isn't like I'm fearful of being noticed either. Hmm. She thought to herself before finally answering. "Reiko." She figured short and sweet would be the best way to handle his questions. She watched Eli, noticing how eager he appeared to be. She didn't say anything when he had flipped to the next page in his notebook. I'm sure he has questions for me. There is no sense in me talking to him first. She thought to herself as she silently waited for him to start speaking.
» When the other released her name it felt like a victory to Eli. He smirked, ”Well Reiko, I appreciate you taking the time to talk to me, I’ll try to get straight to the point.” He began, taking a moment to ready his pencil. Part of him was nervous, he was still new to the city and he knew everyone had their own opinions. He didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes and create issues, but their voices deserved to be heard and the truth deserved to come out. The voice of the people mattered.
”I would like to know your feelings on the cities raising crime rates,” Eli’s looked at Reiko, giving a valiant grin, ”Do you think your government could be doing more, or are there any solutions you believe could help?” His own opinion was that, unfortunately, there was a natural order to things. Gangs were going to exist; trying to fight violence with violence would only cause more casualties and issues. He wasn’t sure if there was a good or right way to drive them out but he did know spilling blood over it wasn’t going to make it easier.
But this wasn’t about his own thoughts, it was about Reikos and he was excited to get her take on such disastrous ongoing issues. It didn’t cross his mind though, that she could be on any one side. He had to try to tread lightly, though he wasn’t really known for that.

Reiko was silent as she listened to Eli speak. Sure you do. She thought to herself as she watched Eli handling his pencil. She was attempting to read his face expression. Eli spoke and she listened, debating on what she would answer. I could tell him the truth but than he'd get the idea that I'm apart of the yankan gang and we can't have that now, can we? She thought to himself as she listened to Eli ask his next question. I still need to answer his first question but since he is asking his next question I might as well answer this way instead. She thought to herself before smiling at Eli. "I don't care." The answer might have come off as confusing but at least it was honest. She was expecting him to ask for her to clarify but until he did so she was going to stay silent on him.
I honestly don't think my answer came across as hinting one way or another. I mean one could argue that I'm young or lucky enough to not be noticed by them when really the fact of the matter remains that I'm apart of the yankan gang but I don't care to flat out tell him about it. She thought to herself as she watched Eli, curious on what he'd do now.
» In his line of work, people always had an opinion, and when they didn't it was usually because they were part of the problem. So when the pink haired shorty in front him said she didn't care, it sparked something in the journalists body. He raised an eyebrow at the odd response, ”So, you don't care about these issues, or you don't care about finding solutions?” Either way the other would stand out and not in a positive light, she was suspicious.
He didn't feel great about assuming such a young person could have any involvement, but what about her family?
He cleared his throat, adjusting his stance, waiting to take notes on what she had to say next. Though he couldn't keep his mind from wandering, 'what if she is a gang member? If she were a commoner or politician she would have more to say , right? Unless she's just that primitive?' He had so many questions, he was just itching to get answers to.
”I just need a little elaboration if you don't mind,” Eli said reassuringly, ”you're voice matters too, no matter what your voice may be.” He added, in hopes of potentially easing the other into giving more information.

Reiko couldn't help but sigh when Eli spoke. Maybe I shouldn't have worded it like that. She thought to herself as she looked back towards Eli. "Why would I focus on them when I have to focus on what is happening in my own home?" She asked, attempting to detour his question away from the answer she had given to him prior. Am I going to have to lie? It isn't like I haven't done so before so I might as well do it now. She thought to herself before adding, "Are you claiming that you could focus on what happens outside while problems are happening inside the home as well? Well let me tell you, I'd much rather focus on one thing at a time and right now that is what is happening inside my home." She ranted, hoping that would get him off of questioning her further. Now lets see here. Should I bull crap him by threatening to walk away? How would he take it if I were to try? She thought to herself, attempting to walk past Eli, curious on what he'd do about it.
» Reikos responses just kept getting more and more interesting. 'So, maybe if she's got so many issues at home that could mean her family might be doing some or be involved in some messed up shit? He narrowed his eyes, watching as the smaller person began to walk past him. Was this an intimidation tactic? 'She knows something, I am absolutely sure of it.' He gave a smirk.
She might have been young, but Eli could feel the tension. Without turning to face her he spoke, ”So, things must be pretty messed up with your family then?” His wording was meant to illicit a response. He scoffed slightly, he was ballsy, that's for sure- attacking a teenagers family on the street just for the sake of content. Granted he had just enough to get an interest post out- doing so would be rather accusatory of this girl and her family, but he had a gut feeling something was up with her.
”If you don't want to tell me more- that's fine. But I'm known to fill in the gaps,” he spoke with a challenging tone. Hinting at his motives to push her tragic story to the public. It would be hard to tell who she was, how many pink haired blue eyed girls in Keibetsu had the name Reiko....if Eli had to guess, not many. He smirked, displaying this rather pariah-like thought.

Reiko paused when she heard Eli's question. Oh what ever. Who cares if he finds out I'm apart of the yankan gang. What can he do about it? She thought to herself, tempted to just leave him there. "Yeah. My parents aren't together. The usual drama." She answered not daring to look back towards him. His next few voices made her feel furious. I don't want to make his headlines! She thought to herself angerly before suddenly turning back towards him. "So let me get this straight. You're going to throw me under the bus just to get a damn story out? All because I'm having problems at home?" She asked, attempting to act like she cared for the sake of her mother but that was far from the truth. "My mother will be furious if she sees this crap." She added, unsure on if her father would really care but he'd certainly want to handle it if she was bothered by it. He has guts to threaten me like this. I might have to show him a lesson but I want to hear what he dares to say before I take any further action. She thought to herself, tempted to steal that notebook of his.
» Eli had a gut feeling that there was something up with Reiko, but she remained consistent in her responses. A typical person would respond with an apology or something to diffuse the situation, but Eli was stubborn and persistent and once he felt like he might be onto something, he would do anything to figure it out entirely. He pushed out a sigh as the young girl turned to him, clearly upset.
”Listen, Reiko....I've been around here for a while, trying to uncover the injustices going on in this city,” he said admittedly, ”and I hate to say it but it's rather suspicious when a member of the communities youth has no opinion on the matter.” Eli had hopes that by being open about why he reacted the way he did, she would disarm herself a little more.
”I can't say in the past I haven't thrown people under the bus....” He added in almost a whisper, ”but my gut is rarely wrong about these thing.” He narrowed his eyes as he looked down at the small girl, he tried to refrain from sounding accusatory but it was his truth, his reality. Eli wasn't the type to stir up family drama just because, however if that family were in on some dirty business Eli couldn't promise the outcome would remain the same.
He took a moment to jot down some notes in his book before clearing his throat, ”Do you know how your family feels about what's going on? Or is it pretty much same across the board with not caring?” he asked, his eyes meeting her blue ones. Surely, this would either get somewhere or she would leave? Either way, Eli had no intentions of backing down on what he had said.

Reiko listened as Eli spoke. He is smarter than he looks but this is going to put him in danger and for that I view him as a complete idiot. She thought to herself, not really complaining at this point. Yes. Give me an excuse. She thought to herself, taking a lot of effort to not try and steal that notebook of his. She was silent as Eli spoke, debating on what exactly her next move would be but Eli opened the door for her to answer with his next question. "My mother doesn't like the gangs and wants the government to do more because she feels they aren't doing enough." She admitted, knowing exactly how her mother felt about her being apart of the yankan gang. I have no problem throwing her under the bus. It isn't my words but hers and father doesn't care how she feels on the subject so long as she keeps her mouth shut. She thought to herself as she watched Eli.
"I've been raised to feel the same way." She answered, once more being honest. Of course her mother's words had gone in one ear and out the other but Eli didn't need to know this. Happy now? Have I fed you enough information that you won't post some stupid news article about my family and myself? She thought to herself, waiting for Eli to say something.

in truth there is justice.

» Honestly, Eli was unsure if what the other was saying was the complete truth. However, Eli wasn't in the market to fight over something so trivial, especially when he felt like he had enough to get a decent blog post out of it.
Though it did strike him as odd that she only mentioned her mother, 'to be fair, I lost my father so maybe that's the case?' This thought was not enough for him to push further on the topic of the father. He gave an eager nod as she spoke.
Eli narrowed his eyes, ”Well, if that was the case, why did you say you didn't care earlier?” it was genuine question. If that was how she truly felt, she could have always started with that. 'Unless she is covering something up?' It was odd for him to believe such things about someone so young, but it made sense in his head.
The city had been plagued with crime, the gangs were pushing drugs and violence onto the streets- it was a raging topic that everyone had an opinion on right off the bat...except for Reiko. His sighed, as he jotted a few things down. ”Is there anything else you would like to add?” he questioned, trying to determine if she would say anything else.

Reiko found herself annoyed at the fact Eli kept pressing her on why she chosen her words earlier. Because I really don't care... She thought to herself tempted to ignore him but decided against it. "Because she is still encouraging me to care about what happens outside the home. I guess from her point of view it would be a big deal but trying to focus on multiple things..." She lied, raising her hand to her face before sighing, hoping he'd believe her even though it was far from the truth. I should have just told him the truth from the start. The government can go to hell as well as any gang who stands against the yankan gang. If he comes across again that he plans on writing about me, there is nothing to stop me from stealing that notebook of his. She thought to herself before slowly lowering her hand back down to her side. "Yeah. Now that I think about it further. I feel like the government is doing the best they can." She answered, tempted to say that the government could do more simply because she loved a challenge but held back because she didn't think many apart of the yankan gang would want that challenge just because she didn't mind it.
